KSP Post 13 Investigating Murder in Letcher County

Two arrested

Neon, Ky. (May 3, 2018) – A search for a missing Letcher County man transitioned to a murder Wednesday.  Troopers with Kentucky State Police Post 13 began looking for Ricky Allen Gibson on Sunday, April 29th, after family members advised they hadn’t seen him for several days.  Through the course of this investigation, Troopers and detectives interviewed Clifford Caudill, age 38 of Neon, and 50 year old Dedra Keathley of Pikeville.  Based on information gained in those conversations, both Caudill and Keathley were charged with one count each of Murder and Tampering with Physical Evidence.  Both were lodged in the Letcher County Detention Center in Whitesburg.

Around 11:15 Thursday morning, the body of 44 year old Ricky Allen Gibson of Jackhorn was discovered over a hillside off of Haymond Hill Road.  Letcher County Coroner Rene Campbell responded and pronounced Ricky Gibson deceased at the scene.  Gibson’s body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for an autopsy.

KSP officials encourage anyone with information that might assist in this investigation to contact Post 13 at 606-435-6069.  Individuals can also report information to any of the Kentucky State Police social media sites, public webpage or the KSP mobile app.  Detective Josh Huff is leading this investigation.
