Kentucky State Police Investigate Breathitt County Shooting

JACKSON, Ky. (August 8, 2025) – On Thursday, August 7, 2025, at approximately 8:26 P.M., Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard received a 911 call reporting a shooting on KY-30 West in the Jackson community of Breathitt County.

Upon arrival, troopers and emergency medical personnel discovered a female victim who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Life-saving measures were immediately initiated at the scene. The victim was then transported by EMS to a nearby landing zone and airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center, where she is currently listed in stable condition.

KSP detectives responded to the scene and began an investigation. Preliminary findings indicate that an unidentified male approached the residence and opened fire, striking the woman multiple times. Through further investigation, detectives identified the alleged shooters as Christopher Roberts, 24, of Booneville, and Travis Watson, 21, of Beattyville.

Troopers from Post 13, with assistance from Post 7 in Richmond, located and apprehended both suspects. Roberts and Watson were transported to the Kentucky River Regional Jail, where they were lodged and charged with Attempted Murder. The investigation remains ongoing and is being led by Detective Scott Caudill.
