KSP Post 16 Preparing for Fallen Trooper Mack Brady 5K In Support of Trooper Island
HENDERSON, Ky. (September 7, 2026) – Kentucky State Police Post 16 is preparing for the Fallen Trooper Mack Brady 5K run on 10/17/2026 at Central Park in Henderson, KY. All proceeds will go to support Trooper Island Kids Camp. Interested runners can register at runsignup.com. Runners will receive a free shirt for their participation. The top (5) placed runners will receive a framed award certificate. Trooper Mack Brady died in an automobile crash while responding to a call for assistance.
He swerved to avoid a head-on collision after someone pulled into his path during an emergency run. Trooper Brady had served with the Kentucky State Police for 15 years. He was survived by his wife and two children. The 425 bypass in Henderson County was renamed the Trooper Mack E. Brady Memorial Highway in his honor.
KSP Trooper Island is a free, non-profit summer camp operated by the Kentucky State Police (KSP) on a secluded island in Dale Hollow Lake , located in Clinton County, Kentucky. Developed in 1965 by founder Ted Bassett, the camp’s primary mission is to provide underprivileged children with structured recreation and leadership building while fostering positive relationships with law enforcement officers. Trooper Mack Brady volunteered his time on the island with various work projects prior to it being open for use.
