
Kentucky State Police Charges Three People after Grand Jury Indictment

HARTFORD, Ky. (April 25, 2024) – On Tuesday, April 23, 2024, Kentucky State Police troopers executed a search warrant at Pilgrims Rest Boarding school in Dundee, seizing 29 boxes of items. This comes after the Ohio County Grand Jury handed down additional indictments to four participants.
Kelly R. Vanderkooi, 54 of Dundee, KY
1) Sixteen (16) counts of Criminal Abuse 1st Degree (minor under 12)
Joshua P. Vanderkooi, 31, of Hebron, IN
1) One (1) count of Criminal Abuse 1st Degree (minor under 12)
Amanda Vanderkooi, 28, of Dundee, KY
1) Two (2) counts of Criminal Abuse 1st Degree (minor under 12)
Christina Vanderkooi, 51, of Dundee, KY
1) Three (3) counts of Criminal Abuse 1st Degree (minor under 12)
2) One (1) count of Intimidating a Participant in a Legal Process

HARTFORD, Ky. (December 30, 2022) – On December 29, 2022, Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 16 detectives arrested three people for multiple felonies.
KSP detectives initiated an investigation at Pilgrim’s Rest School in Dundee (Ohio Co) after Social Services investigated allegations of abuse. The investigation started in October of 2022 and detectives presented the case before the Ohio County Grand Jury.
Three individuals were indicted and charged:
Kelly R. Vanderkooi, 52, of Dundee, KY
- Twenty-one (21) counts Criminal Abuse 1st Degree (child 12 or under)
- Ten (10) counts of Assault 4th Degree (Child Abuse)
Johnathan V. Vanderkooi, 28, of Dundee, KY
- Eight (8) counts of Criminal Abuse 1st Degree (child 12 or under)
- Three (3) counts of Assault 4th Degree (Child Abuse)
Amanda Vanderkooi, 27, of Dundee, KY
- One (1) count of Sexual Abuse 1st Degree
All are being held in the Ohio County Detention Center in Hartford.
The investigation is ongoing by Kentucky State Police.
