
Owensboro Men Arrested for Drugs After Fleeing Traffic Stop
Troopers Located a Large Bag of Suspected Bath Salts
OWENSBORO, Ky. (August 10, 2018)—A Kentucky State Police trooper conducted a traffic stop on KY 144 and Reid Road in Daviess County around 10:30am for a seatbelt violation. During the stop, the passenger ran from the vehicle. The trooper gave chase and caught the fleeing suspect about 150 yards from the originating stop.
The trooper determined the passenger to be Jeremiah Chapman, 35 of Owensboro, who had an active warrant for his arrest. A vehicle search was conducted and troopers located approximately 18 grams of suspected bath salts, marijuana, paraphernalia, bolt cutters (with other commonly used burglary tools) and change totaling over $100.
Chapman was charged with:
1) Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense
2) Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
3) Resisting Arrest
4) Fleeing or Evading Police, 2nd Degree (on foot)
5) Possession of Burglary Tools
The driver was identified as James L. Jennings, 27 of Owensboro. He was also arrested and charged with:
1) Failure to Wear Seatbelt
2) Operating Motor Vehicle Under the Influence 1st Offense
3) Possession of Marijuana
4) Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
5) License to be in Possession
6) No Registration Plates/Receipt
7) Failure to Produce Insurance Card
Both men were transported and lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center in Owensboro.
