Hancock County Collision Claims Lives of Two Local Countians

Hawesville, Ky. (August 8, 2026) – On August 8, 2026, at 2211 hours Kentucky State Police Post 16 was contacted by Hancock County dispatch requesting troopers to investigate a single vehicle collision near the intersection of KY-271 and Hilldale Road. The initial investigation revealed that a red 1998 Ford Mustang left the roadway before striking an earthen embankment. The Hancock County Coroner pronounced Sean Woosley (23) of Hawesville, KY and Joshua Wood (25) of Lewisport, KY deceased at the scene. Kentucky State Police Trooper Alena Oakes is continuing her investigation of the collision at this time.
