KSP Angel Initiative Offers Help, Not Handcuffs, For Those Seeking Addiction Treatment

The program encourages individuals seeking addiction treatment to visit a KSP Post.

Nortonville, KY (Hopkins County) – In March of 2018 the Kentucky State Police launched the Angel Initiative across the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The Initiative encourages individuals suffering with substance use disorder (SUD) to visit a local KSP post for assistance with treatment.

The program encourages individuals seeking addiction treatment to visit a KSP post, where he or she will be paired with a local officer who will assist with locating an appropriate treatment program. It is completely voluntary, and the individual will not be arrested or charged with any violations if he or she agrees to participate in treatment.

Kentucky State Police Post 2 in Madisonville has had eight individuals take advantage of the program since its launch, last year. People wanting further information about the program can contact their local Kentucky State Police Post.
