
KSP Investigating Single Vehicle Collision
KSP responded to a single-vehicle, injury collision that occurred on the Western KY Parkway
Nortonville, KY (Hopkins County) – On Friday, October 19, at approximately 9:30 a.m., the Kentucky State Police responded to a single-vehicle, injury collision that occurred on the ramp from the Western KY Parkway, westbound, onto the Pennyrile Parkway, southbound.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Derrel R. Berry, 46, of Clarksville, TN, was operating a 2003 Freightliner tractor-trailer southbound on the ramp. As the vehicle was traveling down the ramp, it exited the left shoulder of the roadway and struck a road sign. The vehicle continued into a ditch where it overturned onto its driver’s side and struck another road sign. The vehicle came to rest on its driver’s side in the ditch.
Mr. Berry had to be extricated from the vehicle. He was flown from the scene by PHI Air Medical to Vanderbilt for treatment. He was wearing a seatbelt.
The KY Department of Fish & Wildlife, the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department, Nortonville Southside Squad 2, the South Hopkins Fire Department, Medical Center Ambulance Service, PHI Air Medical, and the KY Transportation Cabinet assisted at the scene.
