KSP Recovers Stolen Vehicle

Hopkinsville, Ky. (Christian County) – On February 18, 2020 at approximately 4:30 PM, Kentucky State Police Post 2 in Madisonville, received a call from Evansville Police Department in reference a stolen 2008 Chevrolet Equinox, which they believed to be traveling southbound on the Edward T. Breathitt Pennyrile Parkway.

Trooper Hunter Carroll observed an Equinox, matching the description of the stolen vehicle, at approximately the 15 mile marker. Trooper Carroll initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, where he came in contact with the operator, Shirley Kaye Smith, age 59, of Evansville, Indiana. Smith was arrested without incident, and lodged in the Christian County Detention Center, where she was charged with Receiving Stolen Property U/$10,000.
