Kentucky State Police Post 2 Investigates Fatal Collision

MADISONVILLE, Ky. (February 24, 2026) –Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 2 was contacted by Hopkins County Dispatch on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at approximately 5:30 AM CT and requested to investigate a fatal collision involving a vehicle versus pedestrian near the 4400 block of Charleston Road, Dawson Springs, Kentucky.

Preliminary Investigation indicates that a pickup truck traveling north bound on Charleston Road entered a second lane in attempt to pass another north bound vehicle. The north bound pickup truck struck a south bound bicycle rider identified as David Baggott, 49 years old of Dawson Springs, Kentucky who was pronounced deceased by the Hopkins County Coroner.

The collision remains under investigation by Detective Jacob Stephens U/1216 of the Kentucky State Police.
