
KSP Arrests Drakesboro Man after Shooting
William C. Dortch was arrested and lodged in the Muhlenberg County Detention Center
Drakesboro, KY (Muhlenberg County) – On March 23, 2019 at approximately 6:33 PM, Kentucky State Police Post 2 in Madisonville received a call from Muhlenberg County Dispatch requesting assistance in a shooting investigation that occurred in Drakesboro.
Through investigation, KSP Detectives discovered William C. Dortch, age 46, of Drakesboro, KY, had been in an altercation with his wife, Tonya L. Dortch, age 44, of Drakesboro, KY. During the altercation Ms. Dortch and her two teenage daughters began to leave the residence. Mr. Dortch exited the residence with a firearm, and fired several shots, striking Ms. Dortch’s vehicle as her and her children were driving away.
Ms. Dortch and her daughters were transported by a family member to the Owensboro Muhlenberg Community Hospital. All injuries were non-life-threatening.
William C. Dortch was arrested and lodged in the Muhlenberg County Detention Center where KSP charged him with the following:
1.) Assault 1st Degree- Domestic Violence
2.) Attempted Murder- Domestic Violence, 2 Counts
3.) Assault 4th Degree- No Visible Injury
KSP was assisted in the investigation by Central City Police Department, Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Department, Greenville Police Department, Muhlenberg County EMS, Central City Fire Department, and Drakesboro Fire Department.
