Kentucky State Police Post 2 Investigates Multi-County Pursuit Involving Christian County Detention Center Escapees

MADISONVILLE, Ky. (April 13, 2025) – Kentucky State Police Post 2 Dispatch was notified on April 12, 2026 of a carjacking and assault incident at the Family Dollar/Dollar Tree located at 230 South Madisonville Street in Crofton, Kentucky. Christian County Dispatch advised the incident possibly involved two escaped inmates from the Christian County Detention Center who walked away from a work detail a short time prior.

Troopers located the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the Western Kentucky Parkway near the 60 mile-marker; however, the operator refused to stop and fled northbound on the parkway at high speeds. The pursuit continued through Muhlenberg, Ohio, and Grayson counties, where the vehicle was ultimately stopped near the 108 mile-marker. Assisting agencies utilized a tire deflation device, successfully stopping the vehicle.

Law enforcement identified the operator as escaped inmate Elijah Boodoosignh, 30 years old, of Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Boodoosignh was charged with fleeing or evading police, 1st degree in a motor vehicle; speeding 26 mph or greater on a limited access road; reckless driving; wanton endangerment 1st degree; fleeing or evading police 2nd degree; resisting arrest; possession of marijuana; possession of alcohol beverage in a motor vehicle; license to be in possession; and escape 2nd degree.

A passenger, who also escaped the detention center, was identified as James Stull, 39 years old, of Covington, Kentucky, and was charged with escape 2nd degree. A second passenger was identified as Caitlyn Burchett, 31 years old, of Louisville, Kentucky; Burchett was not charged.

Boodoosignh was lodged in the Muhlenberg County Detention Center, and Stull was transported back to the Christian County Detention Center.

The investigation is ongoing and is being led by Trooper Travis Vandrew U/711 and Trooper Tyler Hancock U/344.
