KSP Requesting Assistance in Locating Escaped Inmate

The Hopkinsville Police Department located Calvin Merritt Jr. at a home on Cypress Street this morning, and was able to apprehend him after a short foot pursuit. The Kentucky State Police would like to thank the Hopkinsville Police Department, Crime Stoppers, and all other agencies who continued their efforts to capture the escapee.

 Hopkinsville, KY (Christian County)On April 23, 2019 at approximately 8:33 PM, Kentucky State Police Post 2 in Madisonville, received a call from Christian County Work Release Detention Program, stating an inmate had escaped at approximately 8:28 PM.

 

The escapee is Calvin Jermaine Merritt Jr., age 22, of Hopkinsville, KY. Merritt Jr. is a black male, approximately 5’9” tall, and weighs approximately 140 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, gray sweatpants, and barefoot. He has a tattoo on the left side of his neck, and Calvin tattooed on his upper right arm. He was last seen at East 5th Street and S. Virginia Street in Hopkinsville.
