KSP Investigating Fatal Vehicle Collision

Marion, KY (Crittenden County) – On July 27, 2019, at approximately 7:16 PM, the Kentucky State Police Post 2 in Madisonville received a call from the Marion Police Department, requesting them to investigate a truck that had struck the house at 506 Shady Grove Road.

Preliminary investigation revealed a 2008 GMC Sierra, operated by Christopher Hill, age 43, of Marion, KY, failed to stop at the intersection of Guess Road and Old Shady Grove Road. Hill’s vehicle preceded through the front lawn and into the residence at 506 Shady Grove Road.  Mary C. Bass, age 72, was sitting in a chair in her living room when Hill’s vehicle struck her.

Ms. Bass was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Crittenden County Coroner’s Office. Mr. Hill refused treatment for possible injuries.

The investigation is ongoing by Trooper Jacob Stephens.

KSP was assisted at the scene by Marion Police Department, Crittenden County Coroner’s Office, Crittenden County EMS, Crittenden County Emergency Management, Crittenden County Sheriff’s Department, Marion Fire Department, and Crittenden County Fire and Rescue.
