Kentucky State Police Post 2 Investigates Injury Collision in Christian Co.

Oak Grove, KY (Christian County) – At approximately 11:37 hours on 09/12/2021, Kentucky State Police Post 2 was requested by the Oak Grove Police Department to investigate a two-vehicle collision with injuries.  Troopers responded to Fort Campbell Boulevard (41-A) in the area of the Interstate 24 overpass to begin the investigation.

Preliminary investigation revealed a 2005 Peterbilt semi, being operated by a Mr. David Steinman, 61, of Cost, Texas was attempting to make a left turn from the I-24 eastbound off-ramp, to travel north on Fort Campbell Boulevard.  As Steinman was exiting the southbound lanes, his trailer-in-tow was struck in the side by a 2019 Honda Civic being operated by a Mr. Adam Kelly, 21, of Clarksville, TN.  Kelly’s vehicle continued underneath the semi’s trailer, becoming lodged in front of the trailer tires, causing Kelly to be trapped in his vehicle.  Kelly was removed from the vehicle by mechanical means and life-flighted to Vanderbilt University Hospital with life-threatening injuries.  Steinman was not injured from the collision taking place.

Kentucky State Police Post 2 was assisted on scene by Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Oak Grove Police Department, Oak Grove Fire Department, and Hopkinsville Fire Department.

The collision investigation is being conducted by Detective Hunter Carroll and is ongoing.
