Kentucky State Police Investigates Fatal Collision in Barren County

CAVE CITY, KY. (May 09, 2026) – At approximately 9:00 p.m., Kentucky State Police Post 3 received a request for assistance from the Cave City Police Department regarding a fatal collision. Troopers responded to the 1200 block of North Dixie Highway (US 31W).

A preliminary investigation indicates that King Martin, 65, of Cave City, was operating a bicycle southbound on US 31W. A 2024 Nissan Murano, operated by Phillip West, 49, of Horse Cave, was also traveling southbound when the front end of the vehicle struck Mr. Martin’s bicycle. Mr. Martin was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Barren County Coroner’s Office.

The ongoing investigation is being led by Detective Bo Hubbard. He was assisted at the scene by the Cave City Police Department, Barren County EMS, the Barren County Coroner’s Office, and additional KSP personnel.
