KSP Conducts Officer Involved Shooting Investigation in Warren County

The investigation continues and is being conducted by KSP Sergeant Chris Baker.

Bowling Green, KY.  (June 27, 2019)—On Thursday morning at 10:09 A.M. (CST) Kentucky State Police Post 3, Bowling Green received a call for service to assist the Bowling Green Police Department regarding a shooting incident involving a Warren County Deputy Jailer.  Uniformed troopers and detectives responded to the scene, which was located near the 4000 block of  Louisville Road (US 31W.)

A preliminary investigation has revealed that the Deputy Jailer was supervising a work detail in the area, when members of the crew were approached and confronted by an unknown male party, not affiliated with the Warren County Regional Jail.  The Deputy Jailer requested the assistance of the Bowling Green Police Department due to the male’s actions and conduct.  Upon the arrival of Bowling Green Police Department officers, the male retrieved a large rock, throwing it at the responding officer’s patrol car, damaging a window.  The male then, once again, retrieved the large rock and approached the Deputy Jailer and began advancing in his direction.  The Deputy Jailer fired one round from his .40 caliber handgun, however it did not strike the male and no injuries were sustained from the gunshot.  The male ran to the edge of a bridge overpass, jumping onto the ground below, where he was taken into custody by officers with the Bowling Green Police Department.

The male party was transported to the Medical Center Hospital in Bowling Green where he was treated for minor injuries.  He was arrested by BGPD for the following charges:  Assault 2nd degree, Criminal Mischief 1st  degree, Fleeing/Evading Police 1st degree on foot, Wanton Endangerment 2nd degree (police officer), Disorderly conduct 2nd  degree, resisting arrest, public intoxication, Assault 3rd degree (police officer.)  Detectives with Post 3 continue their investigation into the shooting incident.

The investigation continues and is being conducted by KSP Sergeant Chris Baker.  He was assisted on scene by the Bowling Green Police Department, Warren County Sheriff’s Department, Warren County Jailer and uniformed KSP troopers and detectives.  No further information is available for release at this time.
