Kentucky State Police Post 3 Investigation leads to the Conviction of a Barren County Woman
MUNFORDVILLE, Ky. (August 28, 2026) – A jury in Hart County convicted defendant Ashley Anderson (24) of two counts of Criminal Abuse 1st Degree (Child Under 12) on Thursday, August 27th, 2026, after a four-day trial. The case stemmed from injuries to Anderson’s minor child reported in 2024 and indicted by the Hart County Grand Jury in February 2025. The minor child sustained a broken arm and multiple contact burns that led to an investigation by the Kentucky State Police Post #3. After deliberation, the jury sentenced Anderson to ten years on each count, to run concurrently for a total of ten years. The case was investigated by Detective Allen Shirley, assisted by Detective Jordan Matthews, Detective Gary Travis, and Detective Michael Waggener, all of Post #3 in Bowling Green. The Kentucky State Police were assisted by multiple local law enforcement officials from Hart County. The case was prosecuted by Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Brooke Talley and First Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Jason Floyd. Elected Commonwealth’s Attorney Kyle Williamson stated, “We are grateful for the hard work and continued dedication of our Kentucky State Police in helping to bring justice for an abused child and will continue to work alongside our law enforcement partners to make Hart County a safer place for all citizens.”
Anderson will appear before the Hart County Circuit Court on November 17, 202,6 for final sentencing.
