Kentucky State Police Investigates Fatal Collision in Meade County

BRANDENBURG, Ky.  (Jan 2, 2024) – Kentucky State Police (KSP) responded to a two-vehicle collision in Meade Co. Monday evening that resulted in a fatality.  

On Jan. 1, at approximately 6:43 P.M. EST, KSP Post 4 received a call from the Meade Co. Sheriff’s Office requesting assistance in investigating a two-vehicle collision near the 3100 block of KY 1692. 

The preliminary investigation revealed that Gregory Brown, 62, of Payneville, was operating a Chevrolet Malibu northbound on KY 1692 when he, for unknown reasons, crossed the center line and into the path of a southbound Ford F-150 operated by Jeffrey Cox, 52, of Webster.  

Cox was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Brown was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Meade Co. Coroner’s Office. 

The affected portion of KY 1692 was closed for several hours in order to allow troopers to reconstruct the collision. KSP Post 4 was assisted at the scene by the Meade Co. Sheriff’s Office, Meade Co. Coroner’s Office, and Meade Co. EMS. The collision remains under investigation by reconstructionist Tpr. Scott Wheatley.
