UPDATE: KENTUCKY STATE POLICE INVESTIGATING MURDER IN MEADE COUNTY

EKRON, Ky. (November 3, 2025) – On November 3, 2025, just before 9:30 p.m EST., Kentucky State Police Post 4 troopers and detectives located Scott Hornback deceased due to a self inflicted gun shot wound. He was located in a vehicle at a family member’s residence on Burgundy Lane. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Meade County Coroner.
The investigation remains ongoing by KSP Detective Travis Dalton.

EKRON, Ky. (November 3, 2025) – On Monday, November 3, 2025, at approximately 12:56 p.m. EST, Kentucky State Police Post 4 in Elizabethtown was contacted by the Meade County Sheriff’s Office regarding a deceased individual located at a residence on Simpson Lane in the Ekron community of Meade County. Troopers and detectives from Post 4 responded to the scene and began an investigation.
During the preliminary investigation, detectives learned that the victim, Mary Crase, 55, of Brandenburg, had sustained at least one gunshot wound. The alleged suspect, identified as Scott Hornback, 45, of Irvington, fled the scene prior to law enforcement arrival and remains at large at this time.
Hornback is described as a white male, approximately 5’8″ 135lbs, with brown hair/brown eyes. The public is urged not to approach Hornback if seen, as he should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact KSP Post 4 at (270) 766-5078 or call 911 immediately.
The ongoing investigation is being led by Detective Travis Dalton, with assistance from other Post 4 detectives and troopers, the Meade County Sheriff’s Office, and the Meade County Coroner’s Office.
