Kentucky State Police Investigating Fatal Collision in Meade County

EKRON, Ky. (December 25, 2025) – The Kentucky State Police, Elizabethtown Post, responded to a two vehicle collision in Meade County on Thursday, December 25, 2025. The collision happened at the intersections of Garrett Road and Brandenburg Road at approximately 9pm CDT. 

The initial investigation indicates an F-150 pickup truck operated by Kailey Kwiatkowski, 19, of Brandenburg, KY, was traveling westbound on KY 144 when, for unknown reasons, crossed the center line. The F-150 struck a Nissan Sentra in a head on manner. The Nissan Sentra was traveling eastbound on KY 144, and was being operated by 20 year old Trae McCormack of Ekron, Kentucky. As a result of the collision, McCormack was fatally injured and pronounced deceased by the Meade County Coroner’s Office. 

The F-150 also struck a vehicle that was parked in a paved area adjacent to KY 144. James Anderson, 38, of Bloomfield, Indiana, was sitting in the parked vehicle when it was struck, but was not injured. 

Kwiatkowski and a juvenile passenger of the F-150 were transported to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

Trooper Scott Wheatley is conducting the ongoing collision investigation. He was assisted on scene by Meade County Fire, Meade County EMS, and the Meade County Coroner’s Office.
