Kentucky State Police Investigates Fatal Collision in Nelson County

BARDSTOWN, Ky. (June 22, 2025) – Kentucky State Police (KSP) responded to a single-vehicle collision in Bardstown early Saturday morning that resulted in a fatality.

On June 21, at approximately 4:40 A.M. EDT, KSP Post 4 received a call from the Bardstown Police Department requesting KSP investigate a single-vehicle collision near the 800 block of W. Stephen Foster Ave in Bardstown. 

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2022 Hyundai Elantra driven by Jason Wurts, 25, of Taylorsville, lost control before exiting the road and striking a tree and an unoccupied vehicle.

Wurts was flown to the University of Louisville Hospital for life-threatening injuries. A passenger in the vehicle, Morgan Williamson, 27, also of Taylorsville, was transported to Flaget Hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.

The affected portion of W. Stephen Foster Avenue was closed for several hours to allow troopers to reconstruct the collision. KSP Post 4 was assisted at the scene by the Bardstown Police Department, Nelson Co. Coroner, and Nelson Co. EMS. The collision remains under investigation by reconstructionist Tpr. Jesse Harp.
