
KSP responds to officer involved shooting in Shepherdsville
Shepherdsville, Ky. (July 15, 2020) – At approximately 10:45 p.m. on July 14, 2020, Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 4 received a call from the Shepherdsville Police Department requesting KSP assistance with a barricaded subject located on Mandarin Court in Shepherdsville.
The preliminary investigation revealed that officers with the Shepherdsville Police Department were attempting to make contact with a subject wanted on several felony warrants including wanton endangerment of a police officer. As officers approached the subject he proceeded to barricade himself inside his residence. At that time, Shepherdsville Police Department contacted Post 4 and requested KSP’s Special Response Team (SRT) to assist.
KSP’s SRT arrived on the scene this morning at approximately 1:15 a.m. and continued negotiations with the subject into the early morning hours. Shortly after 6:00 a.m. the subject exited the residence with an firearm and attempted to enter a vehicle. KSP Troopers gave repeated verbal commands for the individual to drop his weapon and the subject did not respond. Troopers fired on the suspect and Tyler Blevens (22) of Shepherdsville, was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Bullitt County Coroner’s Office.
KSP was assisted at the scene by the Shepherdsville Police Department, Bullitt County Sheriff’s Office, Bullitt County EMS and Bullitt County Coroner’s Office. The investigation is being led by KSP’s Critical Incident Response Team.
