KSP Makes Arrest In Breckinridge County Double Homicide
Hardinsburg, Ky. (August 6, 2020)– Kentucky State Police Post 4 detectives are conducting a murder investigation in the Garfield community of Breckinridge County. On August 6, 2020 at approximately 1:09 A.M. C.T., KSP Post 4 was contacted by the Breckinridge County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) requesting assistance with a death investigation at 257 Blackberry Circle Lane in Garfield. Through the course of investigation, detectives were able to determine that Steven R. Gann, age 45 of Garfield, and Jacob R. Loeffler, age 26 of Elizabethtown, had been shot multiple times and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Breckinridge County Coroner’s Office.
With the assistance of the BCSO, detectives were able to locate the suspect, Montez D. Johnson, age 28 of Louisville, at an apartment complex on Ledgewood Parkway in Louisville. Kentucky State Police’s Special Response Team responded to the scene and with the assistance of Louisville Metro Police Department’s SWAT team was able to apprehend Johnson without further incident.
Johnson was charged with murder and was later lodged in the Breckinridge Detection Center. An autopsy has been scheduled for tomorrow at the Kentucky Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville. KSP Troopers and Detectives were assisted at the scene by the Breckinridge County Sheriff’s Office, Hardinsburg Police Department, Irvington Police Department, Louisville Metro Police Department, Breckinridge County EMS and the Breckinridge County Coroner’s Office.
