
Kentucky State Police Investigates Fatal Collision on the Bluegrass Parkway
BARDSTOWN, Ky. (Aug. 31, 2024) – Kentucky State Police (KSP) responded to a two-vehicle collision in Nelson Co. Friday evening that resulted in a fatality.
On Aug. 30, at approximately 5:45 P.M. EDT, a KSP Post 4 trooper came upon a two-vehicle collision near the 13 mile-marker on the Bluegrass Parkway.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 17 year old male, of Cox Creek, was operating a 2016 Ford Fusion westbound on the Bluegrass Parkway when for unknown reasons, he crossed the median and into the path of a 2016 Cadillac Escalade traveling eastbound; operated by Patrick Reed, 41, of Bardstown.
The juvenile was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Nelson Co. Coroner’s Office. Reed and two passengers, were flown to University of Louisville Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The affected portion of the Bluegrass Parkway was closed for several hours in order to allow troopers to reconstruct the collision. KSP Post 4 was assisted at the scene by Nelson Co. EMS, Nelson Co. Fire and Rescue and the Nelson Co. Coroner’s Office. The collision remains under investigation by reconstructionist Det. Brad Holloman.
