Kentucky State Police Investigates Fatal House Fire

Ghent, KY. (July 7, 2020) – Kentucky State Police Post 5 Detectives are conducting a Death Investigation following a fatal house fire that occurred over the weekend in Carroll County. Just after 3 o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday July 4th Post 5 was notified of a house fire at 202 Fishing Lane in Ghent. Once the fire was extinguished by the Ghent Fire Department a deceased female was discovered.

Constance Beal, 45, of Ghent was identified as the victim. A second individual, Peggy O’Neil, 74, of Ghent suffered injuries as a result of the fire and was transported by helicopter to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Jerry Beckham, 54, of Ghent, was also in the residence when the fire broke out, but was able to escape without injury.

The cause of the fire has not been determined, but no foul play is suspected at this time. The investigation remains ongoing.
