Kentucky State Police Post 5 Welcomes New Commander

Campbellsburg, KY. (September 3, 2020) – The Kentucky State Police Post 5, Campbellsburg welcomes Captain Eric Walker as the new Post commander.

Captain Walker, a 26 year veteran, began his career in 1994 at Kentucky State Police Post 16 in Henderson after his graduation as a member of Cadet Class 71. In 1999, he was promoted to Sergeant and served at the Mayfield Post executing assignments as a Field, Administrative, and Detective Sergeant. In 2004, he was promoted to Lieutenant completing assignments as an Assistant Records Branch Commander, Assistant Academy Branch Commander and Highway Safety Branch Commander. In 2006, he was promoted to Captain and continued to serve as the Highway Safety Branch Commander, followed by additional assignments as commander of KSP Records Branch, KSP Post 2 in Madisonville, Inspections Branch, Special Operations Branch, Drug Enforcement Special Investigations East Branch, KSP Post 12 in Frankfort, and most recently at KSP Headquarters Properties Management Branch.

Captain Walker has received the following awards during his career: KSP Citation for Bravery (2003), KSP Commissioner’s Commendation (2006), MADD Outstanding Service Award  (2006), and completed FBI National Academy Session #228 (2007).

Captain Walker is excited to join the Campbellsburg Post Area community and looks forward to this new challenge, providing this statement: “I’m humbled by the privilege to have filled multiple commands over the last fourteen years of my 26+ year career; having this opportunity to serve as the commander of KSP Post 5 brings me back “full circle” to the community service that originally brought me to the Kentucky State Police over two and a half decades ago. I look forward to working with you, while assisting the dedicated men and women of KSP Post 5 meet both your community needs and expectations.”

Captain Walker is a native of Boonville, IN and resides with his wife Marcia in Pleasureville.
