
KSP Investigates Pedestrian Struck by Train
The investigation into the incident is ongoing and being conducted by KSP Post 6 Trooper Isaiah Hill.
Dry Ridge, Ky. (March 7, 2019) — Kentucky State Police were contacted on March 6, 2019 at approximately 3:28 pm in reference to two pedestrians that were possibly struck by a train at the intersection of Needham Ln and US 25 in Dry Ridge, KY.
The preliminary investigation indicates that two females, ages 17 years old and 18 years old, were walking on the railroad right-of-way, while a Norfolk Southern train was approaching. The 18 year old attempted to move out of the way and fell down an embankment causing minor injuries, however the 17 year old was unable to get completely clear of the train and was struck.
Trooper Isaiah Hill responded to the scene, and located the 17 year old with life threating injuries. Trooper Hill noticed a substantial injury to her leg, and utilized his agency issued tourniquet to control the bleeding and reduce the likely hood of further injury or death.
As a result, the 17 year old was airlifted to the University of Cincinnati Hospital for medical treatment.
