Kentucky State Police Investigates Fatal Collision in Mercer County

HARRODSBURG, Ky. (January 16, 2026) – The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post, was contacted just before 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 16, 2026, in reference to a two vehicle collision at the intersection of North College Street and Tapp Road in Mercer County.

The initial investigation indicates a 2016 Nissan Versa operated by Sharon Britton, 71, of Cornishville, was traveling north on North College Street and failed to yield to a traffic control device. As a result, her vehicle entered the intersection and collided with a 2017 Lincoln Navigator traveling east on Tapp Road, driven by Jennings Marshall, 79, of Harrodsburg, KY.

As a result of the collision, Sharon Britton, 71, of Cornishville, Kentucky, who was operating the Nissan Versa, was transported to Ephraim Mcdowell Regional Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased by Boyle County Coroner Eric Guerrant. Jennings Marshall, 79 years old of Harrodsburg, KY, operator of the other vehicle, was transported to Ephraim Mcdowell Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. 

The ongoing collision investigation is being conducted by Trooper Tyler Holt. He was assisted on the scene by Kentucky State Police personnel, Harrodsburg Police Department, AmeriPro EMS, Harrodsburg Fire Department, and Boyle County Coroner’s Office.
