Kentucky State Police Investigate Collision involving Cave City Police Cruiser

RICHMOND, Ky. (March 13, 2026) – The Kentucky State Police, Post 7 in Richmond, was notified just before 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2026, of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Lancaster Road and Caleast Road in Madison County.

Troopers, along with medical personnel, responded to the scene. The preliminary investigation indicates a marked Cave City patrol vehicle, operated by Randall Kersey, was traveling west on Lancaster Road and attempted to make a left turn onto Caleast Road. At the same time, a 2013 white Hyundai Genesis, operated by Judy Blackwell, was traveling east on Lancaster Road. The patrol vehicle turned in front of the Hyundai, resulting in a collision between the two vehicles.

As a result of the collision, Mr. Kersey, Ms. Blackwell and a juvenile passenger were transported to Baptist Health in Richmond for treatment of minor injuries.

The collision remains under investigation by Trooper Delaney Dees. She was assisted at the scene by Kentucky State Police Post 7, the Richmond Police Department, Madison County EMS, and the Richmond City Fire Department.
