Kentucky State Police Investigate Fatal Collision in Boyle County
JUNCTION CITY, Ky. (March 4, 2026) – The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post, was contacted just before 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, in reference to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of US-127 (Hustonville Road) and West Shelby Street in Boyle County.
The investigation indicates a deputy with the Boyle County Sheriff’s Office was operating a 2023 Black Dodge Durango northbound on US-127 and was attempting to make a left turn onto West Shelby Street. As the deputy was turning through the intersection, a 2023 black Hyundai Elantra, operated by Michael Mingey, 27, of Lancaster, Ky, was traveling southbound on US-127, disregarded the traffic control device and struck the Dodge Durango.
As a result of the collision, Michael Mingey, 27, of Lancaster, was transported to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by Boyle County Coroner, Eric Guerrant. The Boyle County Deputy, Zach King was transported to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Detective Tyler Holt is conducting the ongoing collision investigation. He was assisted on the scene by Kentucky State Police personnel, Boyle County Sheriff’s Office, Danville EMS, Boyle County Fire Department, Danville City Fire Department, Junction City Fire Department and the Boyle County Coroner’s Office.
