Kentucky State Police Investigate Fatal House Fire in Bath County

BETHEL, Ky. (January, 2, 2026) – On Friday, January 2, Kentucky State Police (KSP) post 8 was contacted by Bath County Dispatch around 6:30 a.m. requesting assistance with a fatal structure fire on Rooster Run Road. 

KSP along with Bath County Sheriff’s Department, Bethel Fire Department and Bath County EMS responded to Rooster Run Road. Fire personnel located Josephine Patton, 77 of Bethel Kentucky, inside the residence. She was transported to Saint Joseph Hospital in Mount Sterling where she succumbed to her injuries. She was pronounced deceased by Montgomery County Coroner Jimmy Adams. 

This is an ongoing investigation and is being led by Trooper Tyler Smith.
