Kentucky State Police Investigate Fatal Collision in Wolfe County

CAMPTON, Ky. (March,13, 2026) – On Thursday March 12, 2026 at approximately 4:15 p.m., Wolfe County Dispatch contacted Kentucky State Police (KSP) post 8 requesting assistance investigating a fatal traffic collision at the intersection of KY 15 and Mattie Graham Road. 

Preliminary investigation indicates that Candice Gabbard, 58 of Jackson Kentucky, was operating her 2017 Red Jeep Southbound on KY 15 when she crossed over the centerline and struck a 2010 Toyota operated by Courtney Berry, 86 of Campton Kentucky.  Mr. Berry was transported to Jackson ARH and later succumbed to his injuries. Mrs. Gabbard was airlifted from the scene to the University of Kentucky Hospital where she is listed in critical condition. 

KSP was assisted on scene by Wolfe County Sheriff’s Office and Wolfe County EMS. The collision is being reconstructed and remains under investigation by Trooper Leoncio Leal.
