
Kentucky State Police Investigate Fatal Traffic Collision
CLAY CITY, Ky. (May 14, 2025) – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 8 Morehead, was contacted by Powell County dispatch to investigate a fatal traffic collision that occured on Main Street in Clay City.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a White Buick Encore operated by Alyson Marie Kay Martin was traveling on Main Street near Dairy Queen in Clay City. The vehcile struck a male individual identified Ross P Hicks, 42 , of Mt. Sterling. Mr. Hicks was pronounced deceased at the scene by Powell County Coroner Megan Wells Curtis.
Alyson Martin, 25, of Jeffersonville Kentucky was arrested and charged with the following: leaving the scene of a accident/failure to render aid, tampering with physical evidence, vehicular homicide when under the influence of alcohol and operating motor vehicle under influence of alcohol 1st offense. She was booked into the Montgomery County Regional Jail.
KSP was assisted by Clay City Police Department, Powell County Fire and EMS, Powell County Sheriff’s Department, Powell County Coroner, Mt. Sterling Police Department and other KSP personel. The collision is being reconstructed and remains under investigation by Trooper Leoncio Leal.
