
Kentucky State Police Morehead Investigates Fatal Collision in Montgomery County
MT. STERLING, Ky. (May 22, 2024) –On May 22, 2024, Kentucky State Police (KSP), Morehead received a call for assistance with a two-vehicle injury collision on Owingsville Road in Mt. Sterling.
Through the investigation, it was determined that Andrew Romans, 37 years of age from Clay City, KY was traveling east on Owingsville Road operating a Nissan Infiniti. Alavez Ojeda-Gonzalo was traveling west on Owingsville Road operating a moped. Mr. Romans crossed the center line striking Mr. Ojeda-Gonzalo. After striking the moped, Mr. Romans continued traveling east on Owingsville Road leaving the roadway. Alavez Ojeda-Gonzalo suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene by Montgomery County Coroner Jimmy Daniels. KSP was assisted by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Montgomery County EMS, Montgomery County Coroner’s Office, and Mt. Sterling Police Department. This collision remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police, Morehead.
