Powell County Fatal Accident  

An Accident Reconstruction is pending

Stanton, KY (June 19, 2019) The Kentucky State Police Post 8 Morehead was notified at approximately 1:12 p.m. of an injury collision on KY213 North in Powell County.  After further investigation it was determined that Richard Wachter, 37 years of age, of Maysville, KY. was operating a Ford Taurus traveling west bound on Boone Creek Road.  Walter L Watson, 55 years of age, of Owingsville, KY. was operating a 2013 Kenworth Truck traveling south bound on KY213 North.  Mr. Wachter’s car failed to stop at the intersection and traveled into the path of Mr. Watson’s Kenworth.   Fatal injuries were sustained by a 10 year old female juvenile passenger in Mr. Wachter’s vehicle. She was pronounced deceased at St Joseph Hospital in Mount Sterling by Montgomery County Coroner Jimmy Adams.  A 6 year old female juvenile passenger in Mr. Wachter’s vehicle was transported to University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Ky with non-life threating injuries. Mr. Wachter was transported to St Joseph Hospital in Mount Sterling where he was treated and released.  The Kentucky State Police was assisted by Powell County EMS, Powell County Fire Department, and the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.  An Accident Reconstruction is pending and the collision remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police.
