Kentucky State Police Morehead Investigates Fatal Collision in Mason County

MAYSVILLE, Ky. (June 19, 2024) – On June 13, 2024, at approximately 12:30 p.m. Kentucky State Police (KSP) Morehead received a call for assistance with a three-vehicle injury collision. The collision occurred at the intersection of AA Highway and Walton Pike in Mason County.

Through the investigation, it was determined that Robert Figgins, 84 years of age from Brooksville, KY was traveling west on the AA Highway operating a Chevy Trailblazer. Mr. Figgins struck a Buick Century in the rear being operated by Clyde Blackburn III, 18 years of age from Germantown, KY. After being struck in the rear, the Buick Century traveled into the eastbound lane and struck a Nissan Sentra being operated by Rebekah Lytle, 22 years of age from Brooksville, KY. Ms. Lytle was transported to Meadowview Hospital for treatment of her injuries. Her juvenile passenger was airlifted to the University of Cincinnati for medical treatment. Clyde Blackburn III was airlifted to the University of Cincinnati for treatment of his injuries. Robert Figgins was transported t Meadowview Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Ms. Lytle’s passenger Kayla Justice, 33 years of age from Augusta, KY and Mr. Blackburn’s passenger Elizabeth Blackburn, 20 years of age from Germantown, KY was pronounced deceased by Mason County Coroner Madison Lawrence.

KSP was assisted by Mason County Sheriff’s Department, Mason County Coroner’s Office, and Mason County Fire and EMS. This collision remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police Morehead.
