Kentucky State Police Post 8 Investigate Fatal Collision In Lewis County

VANCEBURG, Ky. (July, 08, 2026) – Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 8 Morehead was requested by Lewis County Dispatch to assist with a two vehicle injury collision that resulted in a fatality around 7:30 a.m. on KY 10 near Harrison Hollow Road.

Preliminary investigation indicates that Ford F-250 pickup was traveling West bound on KY 10 following another vehicle. As they entered into a passing zone, the pickup entered into the East bound lane to pass the vehicle and struck a Chevrolet Silverado head on. All four occupants were transported to Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Maysville for their injuries. Charles A. Corns, 21 of Garrison Kentucky, was pronounced deceased upon arrival at the hospital. It was reported that visibility was low due to heavy fog at the time of the collision. 

KSP was assisted on scene by Lewis County Sheriff’s Department, Lewis County Fire and EMS. The collision remains under investigation and is being reconstructed by Detective Paul Thomas.
