
Kentucky State Police Investigate Fatal Collision
MAYSVILLE, Ky. (August, 23, 2025) – On Friday August 22, 2025 at approximately 7:45 p.m. Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 8 in Morehead was contacted by Mason County Sheriff’s Department requesting assistance with a fatal collision near the 4000 block of KY 10.
Preliminary investigation determined that a black Chevrolet Trailblazer operated by Joshua Childers with passengers Elizabeth Appleman and Jimmy Keller all of Germantown, Kentucky were traveling along KY 10 when they struck a red Chevrolet Corvette that was disabled in the roadway. The operator, Brian Huron 62 of Maysville Kentucky, was attempting to push his vehicle out of the roadway when he was stuck by Mr. Childers vehicle. Mr. Childers vehicle then continued forward striking a black Toyota Camry operated by Eden Ballard of Brooksville. Brian Huron was pronounced deceased at the scene by Mason County Coroner. Joshua Childers, Jimmy Keller and Eden Ballard were transported to Meadowview Hospital by Mason County EMS and are listed in stable condition. Elizabeth Appleman was airlifted from the scene to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with life threatening injuries.
KSP was assisted on scene by Mason County EMS, Mason County Sheriff’s Department, Mason County Coroner’s Office and other KSP personnel. The collision remains under investigation and is being reconstructed by Trooper Dakota Rasche.
