Kentucky State Police Investigate Pedestrian Fatality

This investigation is ongoing

Stanville KY, (October 2 2019) Just before 830 PM Kentucky State Police received a 911 call of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle at 9359 US 23 in the North bound lane of the highway, both lanes were shut down for a short period and are now open.

The pedestrian has been pronounced deceased at the scene by the Floyd County Coroner’s office, at this time there are no other reported injuries from this crash.

It is not known at this time if the pedestrian was attempting to cross the roadway or only walking on the road when struck by the vehicle.

Other emergency agencies assisting at the scene were Betsy Layne Fire, Lifeguard Ambulance, and the Floyd County Coroner’s office.

The identity of the victim has not been released pending notification next of kin. This investigation is ongoing and further details will be released as they become available.
