Kentucky State Police Conducts Death Investigation After Human Remains Found in Martin County

INEZ, Ky. (October 21, 2025) – The Kentucky State Police, Pikeville Post was notified at 8:29 pm on Monday, October 20, 2025, in reference to possible human remains discovered in the Inez community of Martin County.

The initial investigation indicates human skeletal remains were located in a wooded area near Coldwater Road in Martin County. The remains were removed by the Martin County Coroner’s Office and will be transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for identification.

Detective Tony Tackett is leading the investigation and was assisted on scene by KSP personnel and Martin County Sheriff’s Department.
