Kentucky State Police Post 9 Conducts Assault Investigation in Pike County 

PIKEVILLE, KY. (November 26, 2025) – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 9, Pikeville, received a 911 call on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, regarding a shooting in the Pikeville community of Pike County.

Troopers responded to a residence on Rays Branch, where they discovered two juvenile males had suffered from gunshot wounds. The initial investigation determined another male involved in the incident discharged a firearm, striking both victims. The juveniles were transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

As a result of the investigation, one juvenile was taken into custody and lodged in the Breathitt County Juvenile Detention Center. He is currently charged with Assault 1st Degree, Possession of a Handgun by a Minor, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.

Detective James Cress is leading the investigation with assistance from KSP personnel and the Pikeville Police Department.
