2019 Post 8 Shop With A Trooper
Post 8 hosted 178 shoppers
Morehead, Ky. (December 18, 2019) On December 16, 2019, and December 17, 2019, the Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 8 Morehead hosted their annual Shop With A Trooper Program (SWAT). The SWAT program helps children within the Post 8 area who otherwise may not have a chance to enjoy Christmas. The event started with a meal donated by Fazoli’s and Cracker Barrel of Morehead, served at the Better Life Church. Prior to eating, all children were given the opportunity to meet and take a photograph with Santa Claus. After the meal, the children were treated to a shopping spree at the Morehead Wal-Mart and each family was given a turkey for Christmas dinner. This year, Kentucky State Police Post 8 was able to host a total of 178 shoppers for both nights of the program. Each child was given a total of $150.00, which $100.00 was spent on clothing items and $50.00 was spent on games/toys. After the conclusion of the program we were able to purchase games/toys for 50 children in Menifee County for their annual Christmas Event and 50 food bags for the elderly in the Post 8 area. Post 8 would like to thank all the volunteers as well as the following agencies that assisted with shopping with the children: Kentucky State Police Post 8 Troopers and families, U.S. Forest Service, Morehead Young Professionals Association and Morehead Optimist Club. A special thank you goes to Fazoli’s, Cracker Barrel, the Better Life Church, Intelligence Analysis Gary Thomas for playing Santa Claus and Wal-mart.
