UPDATE: Kentucky State Police Investigates Possible Human Remains Found In Martin County

Tomahawk, KY. 
(April 15, 2021) – Kentucky State Police investigators returned to the property at South Milo Road today with the assistance of the State Medical Examiner’s Office and an Archaeologist from Kentucky Heritage Council. It was determined that all of the remains discovered are considered historical.  No foul play is suspected and the remains were returned to the original site.

The land owner on South Milo Road requests the public to respect the site and not trespass on the property.

Tomahawk, KY. (April 13, 2021) – The Kentucky State Police Pikeville Post received a call from Martin County Sheriff’s Office on Monday, April 12, 2021, requesting KSP’s assistance regarding the investigation of possible human remains found in the Tomahawk community of Martin County.

KSP investigators responded to a residence on South Milo Road where they located what appeared to be possible human remains in a wooded area behind the residence. The area was secured until additional investigators could return during daylight hours to conduct a secondary search. The Martin County Coroner will transport the remains to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort, KY for possible identification.

Detective Tony Tackett is leading the investigation. He was assisted on scene by KSP personnel, Martin County Sheriff’s Office, Martin County Coroner’s Office, and Boyd County Coroner’s Office.
