Kentucky State Police Post 9 Investigates Single Vehicle Fatal Collision in Pike County

PIKEVILLE, Ky. (July 2, 2026) – Kentucky State Police Post 9, Pikeville, was notified of a single-vehicle collision at approximately 3:51 p.m. on July 1, 2026. The collision occurred on US 23 in the Pikeville community of Pike County.

The preliminary investigation indicates that Paul Bisbee was operating a 1988 Dodge Ram SUV traveling southbound when his vehicle crossed into the northbound lanes and struck the concrete bridge wall. Mr. Bisbee was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Pike County Coroner’s Office.

The collision remains under investigation by Trooper Braxton Whitmore. Trooper Whitmore was assisted at the scene by personnel from Post 9 and local first responder agencies.
