KSP Investigates Murder in Johnson County    

An arrest warrant has been issued for Walter Lee Curtis from Flatgap KyUpdate

Update (September 7, 2018)

Around 2 PM today Johnson County Jailer Doug Saylor notified Post 09 Mr. Curtis had contacted him and stated he would turn himself in to him. A Trooper was dispatched to go with the jailer as a precaution. Mr. Curtis was located around the area of the old highway garage on KY rt. 172 in Johnson County. He was taken into custody with no incident, and is now lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.

The investigation continues in this case an arrest warrant has been issued for Walter Lee Curtis from Flatgap Ky. Mr. Curtis has not been located as of now. Anyone with any information on his location is urged to call the Kentucky State Police at (606)-433-7711. Callers can remain anonymous.

Flatgap KY (August 27 2018) Kentucky State Police Pikeville Post 09 is investigating a murder at Dixon Branch, in the Volga community of Flatgap.

 

At 7:50 pm Post 09 received information from Johnson County 911 dispatch of a person who had possibly been shot, and the person who called them was unable to advise who the shooter was.  Upon Troopers arrival it was determined Mike Jones, 58 years old from Flatgap, was deceased at the scene, possibly due to a gunshot. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Johnson County Coroner’s office. The body will be taken to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy and cause of death. 

 

This case remains under investigation by Detective Kevin Newsome.
