Kentucky State Police Investigates Three Vehicle Fatal Collision in Floyd County

MARTIN, Ky. (September 29, 2026) – Kentucky State Police Post 9 is investigating a fatal three-vehicle collision that occurred at approximately 8:27 a.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, on Kentucky Route 80 in the Martin community of Floyd County.

The preliminary investigation indicates that Kimberly Akers was operating a 2017 Chevrolet SUV eastbound on Kentucky Route 80 when her vehicle crossed the median and struck a 2024 Mazda SUV being operated by Andrea Conn.

The impact caused Conn’s vehicle to strike a 2017 Ford van being operated by Caleb Sizemore.

Kimberly Akers and Andrea Conn were both pronounced deceased at the scene by the Floyd County Coroner’s Office.

The collision remains under investigation by KSP Accident Reconstructionist Detective Matthew Smith. Detective Smith was assisted at the scene by personnel from Kentucky State Police Post 9 and other local first responder agencies.
